Michael Duque,
English Language Arts Teacher
Michael Duque is very excited to be a part of the ADS family.  Señor Duque was born and raised in Florida and spent many hot humid years developing his love for reading, writing poetry, and central air conditioning. He comes from a large, loving, and loud Cuban family who taught him how to reach for his goals, apply himself in school, and how to roast a pig in the backyard. In 2008, he graduated from Florida State University and moved to NYC to teach ELA with Teach for America. This is his eleventh year teaching!  He enjoys sharing his love of books with students and considers it the greatest moments of his day when a student is excited about picking up a book and diving right into reading.

Nathan Satin, English Language Arts Nathan Satin is thrilled to be part of the ADS Team as an 8th Grade Humanities Teacher. Raised in Ridgefield, Connecticut, Nathan went on to graduate from Binghamton University with a double major in History and PPL (Philosophy, Politics, & Law), and delivered the Commencement Speech for the 2011 graduating class. After working as a writer and editor in New York City, Nathan brought his love of words and history into the classroom. After teaching at Academics West in Manhattan and Academic Leadership Charter School in the Bronx, Nathan has connected deeply with the mission at ADS, and is excited to bring the American Dream alive for students in this wonderful community. Nathan's focus has always been on helping young people reach their desired goals, both academically and personally. To that end, Nathan has continually worked to aid students by providing thoughtfully tailored tools and learning strategies in order to address their unique challenges while actualizing their potential both inside the classroom and out in the world.
