Samalot1819Agnes G Samalot, Project Based Learning Teacher From la Isla del Encanto, Puerto Rico, Agnes has lived in PR practically her entire life. During her years in PR, as a Science teacher, she taught Marine ecosystems to high school students. In 2009, Agnes moved with her family to NYC. As a child from 12-18 years old, she participated in a program called COPANI.  It was an art program in which she participated in as a Dancer (Folklore from PR). She graduated from The University of
Puerto Rico Recinto de Rio Piedras. Agnes loves to teach science because when she was in school, science was her favorite subject.


Shavel1819Cody Shavel, Project Based Learning Teacher
Señor Shavel hails from the city of London in the UK and he loves exploring new places! He often finds himself reading, attending sporting events, and even learning new languages as a hobby! He obtained his degree from American University and teaches PBL because he loves science and figuring out how the world works!

Alvarez1819Jose Alvarez, Mathematics Teacher Señor Alvarez is originally from Bronx, New York. He began his teaching career in East Harlem as a corp member for CITY YEAR. He received a B.A. in History with a concentration in the 20th century and a B.A in Latin American Studies from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 2013. He also received an M.A. in Secondary Math from Relay Graduate School of Education. Señor Alvarez enjoys playing soccer and squash and spending time with his family.

Chaudhury1819Atef Chaudhury, Mathematics Teacher 
Señor Chaudhury moved to the state of New York at age 13 and has been a New Yorker ever since. He finished his undergrad with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Marketing and did his graduate school in Lehman College where he received a Master's Degree in Education with a concentration in Mathematics. He likes to participate in recreational sports, spend time with his family and travel. He is very passionate about Math and is looking forward to growing with our young scholars as a part of the ADS family!

Audrey Lee, Humanities Teacher 
Audrey is originally from São Paulo, Brazil. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages and Applied Linguistics at National Taipei University in Taiwan, where her parents are from. Two years ago, she moved to New York to earn a master’s degree from Teachers College in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Audrey loves language learning (she speaks Portuguese, Mandarin, and English fluently) and is looking forward to perfecting her Spanish while working at the American Dream School, which is just the right fit for her multicultural self. She has been a part of the ADS family for 4 years!


Rebecca Paulsen, Humanities Teacher 
Rebecca Paulsen is excited to be a founding ESL teacher at The American Dream School. She is originally from St. Louis and studied Spanish and sociology at the University of Missouri. After graduating from college, Rebecca spent two years serving with the Peace Corps in rural Guatemala. She then moved to New York to earn a master’s degree from Teachers College in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Rebecca has been teaching middle school ESL in the Bronx for three years and is looking forward to a great year with American Dream.  

BrianBrian Collado, Spanish Language Arts Teacher 
Brian joined the ADS team in 2016 as a Spanish Teacher. He was born and raised in the Dominican Republic and immigrated to the United States at an early age. Brian obtained a Bachelor degree in Spanish secondary education, from The City College of New York. He is currently enrolled in the Master of Science in Special Education program, in The City College of New York. Brian is passionate about empowering students to develop their full potential and creating a rigorous curriculum to keep students motivated. Brian is honored to be able to be part of the ADS family. 


Israel Martinez, Spanish Language Arts Teacher.

Israel Martinez was born and raised in Mexico. He came to this country at the age of 15. He attended Westchester Community College where he received an associates degree in Liberal Arts. Israel graduated from CUNY Lehman college in 2017. He received his B.A. in Spanish, minor in Middle and High School Education and B.S. in Recreation Education with an emphasis on Exercise and Sports. He is proud to be part of the wonderful ADS family. He loves to help students so they can succeed in Spanish. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer and running.
